My name is Chris Grocock. As a student at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, I interned at Local 4 WDIV. After 2 months I was hired in as a news graphic designer. Doing pretape graphics taught me to work with producers under extremely tight deadlines, sometimes minutes before air.

Working with Bernie Smilovitz at WDIV gave me the chance to do what I truly enjoy; animation. Again, time was a luxury I did not have. With nothing but a title and a two sentence brief, I had under an hour to create a 5-7 second title animation from concept to completion.

Specialties

After Effects is a second language. Along with that, I know Photoshop, Illustrator, Maya and a little Final Cut Pro for good measure.

In school and on the job I am known as the problem solver, which makes me everyone’s friend. I can bring a team together and lead by example from within if necessary. Or I can take the helm and delegate the work and bring it all together on time. At WDIV I was the only person in the building at night that knew how to do my job. With or without others, I get the job done.
